Pakistan beat England by 75 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the four-match Test series. It was highly inspirational stuff from them. The game was a thorough entertainer. There were wonderful knocks, inspiration bowling stuff and impromptu celebrations.

Everyone was delighted at the stadium and back home in Pakistan. There were congratulatory tweets from all corners. Ahmed Shehzad, who was dropped from the squad for the tour also shared his delight through a video. The promising batsman did the famous military style celebrations to congratulate his team.

Earlier, the Lord’s turned into a playground and the whole team set off to a jubilant celebration as soon as Amir sealed the win with the wicket of last man Jake Ball. But, suddenly the Pakistanis led by Younus Khan began forming lines and left everybody guessing whether what was about to happen.

The whole Test was a gripping game. There was never a dull moment. England gave a fight and made a good comeback after being bowled out for a deficit of 67 runs. Stuart Broad & Co made sure that there was no mountain to climb in the fourth inning by dismissing the Pakistanis for 215 inside the first ten minute of the morning session. Unfortunately, the batsmen could not do their job as requited and succumbed badly in the fourth innings.

Set 283 to win, a target only one side had previously achieved on the ground, Alastair Cook’s side were undone by some wonderful piece of bowling led by leg-spinner Yasir Shah. Jonny Bairstow, James Vince, Gary Ballance and Chris Woakes kept the hopes alive. The 56 runs stand between Bairstow and Woakes in their 31.2 overs stay was the only moment of worry for Pakistan. Yasir Shah and Mohammad Amir, however, made sure that the historic win is achieved by the end of the day itself.
