Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad is facing a tough phase in his career where he no longer in the scheme of things in the national team. Having shown a lot of promise and potential to be the stalwart of the batting he slumped to poor form, questionable attitude and bad relations. He hasn’t been in the good list of the new chairman of selectors Inzamam-ul-Haq and that has made life tough for him.

Shehzad though is trying his best to now make the bat do the talking to get back in the team on the back of his runs. Playing for the Habib Bank he scored heavily in the recently concluded premier first-class tournament of Pakistan the Quaid-e-Azam with 699 runs. He scored four centuries and two half centuries with the best score of 166 coming in the final.

During a National One-Day Cup match Shehzad who is trolled on social media for imitating Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli played limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni’s trademark helicopter shot to perfection. He was standing on the leg-stump with clear intentions to go big. The bowler pitched it right up on the off-stump and 25-year-old was ready for it.

He swung his bat almost exactly like Dhoni does and got the desired result as well. He was in a really good position for the shot, got his bottom hand and wrists into use and the follow through of the shot matched that of the man who popularised it. The bat swing and the power he put behind the stroke ensured it sailed all the way for a six. Shehzad converted that knock into a big one and scored 121 runs.

With his game in line and going well, the batsman would certainly hope the PCB gives him an opportunity to play for the national team again while he is in the pink of form.

Here is the video of the shot:
