Alastair Cook has been England’s batting mainstay in Tests. The English skipper is known to lead from the front and loves tough challenges and performs equally good against speedsters as well as spinners. Cook carries a solid technique and his defense is tough to breach.
However, every excellent player has worthy competitors waiting to bring him down. Here in this video, the two opponents for Cook are the Australian fast bowlers Mitchell Johnson and Ryan Harris. One is very scary to face while the other was an equally troublesome bowler to deal with. Both of these top quality fast bowlers put his defensive excellence under test and were effectively able to get the better of him.
The first to come is this video is Mitchell Johnson, who knocks Cook’s off stumps with a beauty. The ball after pitching shapes away to beat his bat and goes on to dash the off-stump. Next up after Mitchell is fellow fast bowler Ryan Harris. “Rhino” as he is known, runs in smoothly and pitches a perfect seam-up delivery which beats Cook with the lateral movement.
Harris is ecstatic after getting the fantastic dismissal and runs off the pitch to jump in joy. It was obvious for him to be overwhelmingly joyful as he got rid of the English captain with the first delivery of the innings. Also, this was the first time, Cook made a golden duck in his career. The conventional swing of the new ball did trick for both the bowlers. And, unfortunately, for Alastair Cook he had two really good deliveries bowled to him.
