Watch: Alzarri Joseph rattles AB de Villiers with a fierce bouncer
South African batsman AB de Villiers loves to take on the bowlers and is absolutely fearless in his approach. He has on numerous occasions displayed how good he can be against the best of bowlers in world cricket. When AB gets going it’s really difficult to curb his natural attacking instinct and be it a short ball or a fuller one he just pounces upon to thrash it.
He is in the Caribbean at the moment representing the Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League. In the CPL match against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Bridgetown, he was hit on the helmet by a bouncer from Alzarri Joseph and the hit rattled de Villiers.
It was the 5th ball of the 17th over with the Tridents team score reading 140/4. Joseph who was a part of West Indies’ Under-19 World Cup champion team bowled one short and de Villiers who was on the front foot and tried to take on the shot from there. He missed the ball and it crashed into the top of his helmet. Though shaken the South African was on his feet and indicated that he was fine.
Like most bowlers Joseph got carried away with the excitement and did a mistake by bowling another shortish delivery. It was outside the off stump and ABD stayed where he was, cleared his front leg and dislodged it over the long-on region for a maximum.
