The Jamaica Tallawahs were playing the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Qualifier 2 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016. The defending champions TKR looked favorites coming into the game but they were greeted with a tornado named Andre Russell in their bowling inning. Russell stroked the fastest hundred in CPL history to take his team to a huge total. Jamaica posted 195/7 in their 20 overs.
Russell took just 42 balls to touch the triple figure mark Speaking about the century, Jamaica Tallawahs skipper Chris Gayle said, “Russell was superb for us, a fantastic innings by him. I’ll take it back on Sunday (fastest CPL hundred record).”
Later in the game, rain gods weren’t really pleased and it poured out quite heavily. The game was suspended and the total had to be revised. As per the D/L method the Knight Riders now needed to chase 130 runs in 12 overs. But apart from Hashim Amla and Colin Munro nobody could even get into the double figures as Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was the pick of the bowlers claiming 3 wickets.
The Jamaican also returned to claim a couple of wickets with the ball. He was running in to bowl the last over of the game on the second ball with the TKR score reading 103/5 he had the big man Brendon McCullum hitting the big shot. McCullum tried but could only hit it to Walton in the deep.

Russell came up with a weird and unique celebration. He ran towards the fielder and then stopped and lied down like dead. His teammates gave him Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) though on the right side of his chest. After a couple of pumps Russell got up and they hugged and celebrated.
Knight Riders couldn’t bypass the challenge and at the end of the 12 overs were 19 runs short of the target and thus Tallawahs knocked out the defending champions out of the tournament.
