Things haven’t been falling at the right place for the Royal Challengers Bangalore this season. The fielding so far in the tournament has been really pathetic. However, on a day where we saw catches being dropped and midfield, Virat Kohli’s diving catch was a saving grace.
Fielding at long on, Virat Kohli dived to take a catch in the penultimate over to dismiss Dinesh Karthik. Since the game was already out of reach, Kohli just threw the ball back in anger and returned to his fielding position. However, his wife Anushka Sharma present in the stands was really impressed with the catch.
The cameras did manage to catch her expressions.
Here’s a video of the same:

The Kolkata Knight Riders went on to finish the chase in the last over. Chris Lynn who was dropped on 7 by Murugan Ashwin went on to score 62 not out from 52 balls. The likes of Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik provided good support from the other end.
As for Virat Kohli, in spite of his team losing he was in some amazing form. The skipper scored a splendour 68 runs from just 44 balls. He made sure the team didn’t miss AB De Villiers‘ absence in the batting order. While the team scored 175 in their quota of 20 overs, it just couldn’t be enough.
This was RCB’s fifth loss this season as they languish at the seventh position on the points table. For them to create a turnaround, they need to win 6 out of their next 7 games which seems like an uphill task for them. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils also follow the same suit.
The bowling lineup for Bangalore is such a hindrance that they have failed to defend even 200 runs. Also, their best bets in bowling have ended up being huge disappointments for the franchise. The likes of Umesh Yadav, Chris Woakes and Yuzvendra Chahal have bowled well in parts but failed to perform as a team. It’s highly unlikely that RCB can turn the tables with such a weak bowling order.
