Former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid is undoubtedly one of the best slip catchers in cricket history. The Indian legend holds the record for the most number of catches by a fielder in Test cricket with 210 catches from 164 matches.

On the second day of the Durban Test in December 2010, with the South African score on 103 for 6, Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh bowled a doosra. South African pace bowler Dale Steyn didn’t pick it and played for the turn. The outside edge was found and brushed captain MS Dhoni’s pads and travelled almost directly behind him. An unsighted Dravid at the first slip flung to his left and took with one hand, to complete his 200th catch in Test cricket.

He leapt up and broke into a celebratory run. With that he became the first man to reach a double century of catches.

At Hyderabad, of the bowling of Suresh Raina when Daniel Vettori drove to the cover, Dravid dived to complete his 199th catch and he had to wait for 3 matches to get the next catch, and it was a great catch to achieve the landmark.

Along with Dravid, Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka and the South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis are the others to have gone past the landmark. Jayawardene plucked 205 catches from 149 matches and Kallis has exactly 200 catches against his name from 166 matches.
