Watch: Chris Gayle’s don’t blush baby version 2.0
Every team wanted him to be a part of their squad and everyone wanted to watch him bat until Chris Gayle gave that interview to Mel McLaughlin at the end of which he asked her if she would accompany him for drinks and also added ‘don’t blush baby’. This interview got Gayle in a lot of trouble and he was not only trolled around social media, feminist groups also came into action. Soon the matter was escalated enough for him to apologize and speculations started doing rounds that his BBL contract might well be cancelled. He ended the season for Melbourne in uncertainty and is in Dubai playing in the Pakistan Super League where he came up with the don’t blush baby version 2.0.
It was former Australian skipper Tom Moody who was interviewing Gayle this time and at the end of it, he said don’t blush Tom. Both Moody and Gayle ended it with a big laugh. This is probably the West Indian’s way of showing that it was just a casual gesture which was projected from a sexist angle and even termed sexual harassment by a few. Though Mel accepted his apology and didn’t wish to elongate the issue it was kept alive for a long time.
During the controversy, another female had emerged who allegedly said that Gayle had pulled off his towel in front of her when the two had an interaction inside a team dressing room during the World Cup 2015 though there was no confirmation if the allegations were true it certainly upped the temperature against Chris Gayle.
