It is a general term that, no matter how many records a player creates and breaks, he would never be able to overshadow the sport. The sport is always bigger that the men who play it. But, few players are born to break such stereotypes. One such extraordinary individual was Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.

Baseball had Babe Ruth, basketball had Michael Jordan, sprinting had Jesse Owens. All of then defined the particular sport they played. Similarly, if we talk about cricket then it had Sachin Tendulkar to glorify it.

It is impossible to imagine Indian cricket without Sachin Tendulkar. No batsman in the modern era was able to achieve the kind of feats and stardom which Sachin was able to achieve during his two and a half decades long career.

Fans, former cricketers and the players who played with him respect him very much. There’s no doubt that there cannot be any other player who would walk out on the greens and emulate the feats which he did during his career.

‘Little master ‘as he is fondly known, Sachin entered the international arena as a 16 years old against the fiery pair of Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram in 1989. He faced the might of those fast bowlers with grit and earned loyal fans for his show of courage. The seniors in the team predicted a bright future of the team and they were no wrong at all.

Since then he has gone on to amass records. Few of these records are unlikely to be surpassed during his lifetime. He has the most number of runs in Test matches as well as ODIs. He has also scored the most number of centuries in both forms as well. His tally of more than 30,000 international runs is not likely to be overtaken by anyone. He is the only man in the history of the game to get to an unimaginable 100 international centuries.

Tendulkar dominated the best of the teams in the 90’s and the 2000’s and eventually ended as arguably the greatest batsman of this era.
