Daniel Vettori grab a magnificent catch

Watch: Daniel Vettori grab a magnificent catch out of nowhere: May be the age has caught up with veteran off spinner Daniel Vettori in some aspects of his cricket, but it hasn’t touched his mental and cricketing fitness. As he grabbed a wonderful catch at the third-man boundary to dismiss Marlon Samuel.

Vettori just showed why he was called out of semi-retirement into the Black Caps squad for this World Cup 2015. Trent Boult who is in red-hot form, bowling with all the gusto and demolished the Windies top order. He bowled a short ball outside off stump and Marlon Samuel latched on to it, slicing the ball towards third man. The ball was sailing over the fielder Daniel Vettori’s head, he took 3-4 steps back and jumped with all the his athleticism and flexibility plucked the ball out of thin air with his left hand.

Quick Link – Watch: Brendon McCullum proves that he can fly in the air and is a super human

The batsman looked stunned and he has all the right to be. It was not McCullum or Guptill or Williamson guarding the fence there who have very high standard of fielding. It was Daniel Vettori, who is 35 years old and has been suffering with serious back issues for quite some time now. Samuels would have thought the ball would go over his head, least expecting that a 35-year-old bowler with a bad back will jump 8-9 foot in the air to pluck the ball out of nowhere.

Boult got his 3rd wicket and Samuels who was looking good, had to go back for 27 off 15 balls with disbelief written all over his face.
