Watch: David Warner let off the hook by massive Jayant Yadav no-ball
Jayant Yadav is perhaps one of India’s better spinners in recent times. Having broken into the squad in recent times, the fact is that Yadav is a handy all-rounder as well. He has boasted of a few big scores in recent times, but he will certainly not be one of those who can be a better batsman by a bowler.
However, on the morning of the first India v Australia Test match played in Pune, Yadav was brought in early on in the innings when skipper Virat Kohli realized that the track was turning from the first delivery itself. This saw all three spinners make their way towards a spell of few overs that all spinners bowled. Things came to a halt when he cleaned up David Warner on the day.
Yadav’s peach of a delivery ensured that David Warner had indeed been dismissed, but the fact of the matter was that it was a no-ball. This ensured that he had indeed outsmarted the southpaw, but it was a no-ball. This no-ball was something that would eventually go ahead and cost the Indians dear.
The ball then was missed by the keeper Wriddhiman Saha which would then find itself to the fence, something that not only saw Yadav not pick his wicket but also have 4 byes to his name on the day. Eventually, David Warner was picked up by Umesh Yadav a few minutes prior to the lunch break when the uncanny southpaw chopped on the ball to his bails.
What was even more interesting given the fact that Matt Renshaw had to be withdrawn from play due to a stomach bug.
