England on tour of Australia for the Carlton Mid tri-series in the pre-tournament game was playing the Australian Prime Minister’s XI. While England was playing an almost full strength team, the PM team also had star batsmen Glenn Maxwell among others. Batting first the England XI posted a massive 391-6 in their 50 overs. It included a superb innings of 187 form opener Ian Bell and useful half-centuries from Moeen Ali and James Taylor (71 each). In the second innings fielding at deep square leg England bowler Chris Woakes’ juggled the ball threatening enough before grabbing it.

Chris Jordan the bowler would have had his heart in his mouth and the fielder Woakes would have simultaneously juggled his on his palms. It was a regulation catch, needed no outstanding effort to complete it, the fielder either took it too easy or had greasy hands to make it look the way it did. But in the end all’s well that ends well and a successfully completed catch is a catch.

Though it was not as significant from the match point of view as the batsman was Lega Siaka and the Prime Minister’s XI despite Glenn Maxwell’s heroic innings of 136 from 89 balls were never in control of the match and by the end England closed on the game with a 60 runs victory. Other than this catch Chris Woakes’ had a rather uneventful game not being among the leading wicket taker. As Stuart Broad took 4 wickets, James Tredwell and Jordan grabbed a couple each.
