England hosted Pakistan for the first Twenty20I of the series at Bristol on Tuesday. Having won the toss England Women decided to bat first. Their openers Lauren Winfield and Tammy Beaumont started beautifully to give the team a solid platform.
Both the openers went on to score half-centuries. Despite a batting failure thereafter the hosts posted 187 runs on the board. In reply, none of the Pakistani batswomen except Asmavi Iqbal could put up a fight and they lost the game by 68 runs.
Winfield in her knock of 74 from 45 balls hit as many as 10 boundaries and one six. Her opening partner outscored her with 82 off 53 balls. Beaumont also hit 10 fours and got the ball to sail over the ropes twice. The 147-run opening stand was full of some relishable shots all around the County Ground.
On the 4th ball of the first over of the match from Amin Anwar, Lauren hit an eye catching shot. The right-arm fast medium bowler bowled a straightish delivery, which pitched just outside the line of the off-stump and was coming into Lauren. She read the ball well and with field restrictions in effect decided to go for the big shot. She was looking for another boundary having already scored 8 runs from the first three balls.

Lauren Winfield played the helicopter shot on a delivery bowled at 59.4 mph by Anwar. It didn’t have enough muscle to go the distance but crossed the ropes one bounce to get her another four. The aggressive start to the innings helped England women establish dominance in the game. They carried it on to outplay the opponents and in the end, secure an easy win.
