T20 Cricket has brought a lot of innovation into the game. Batsmen these days are quite open to experimenting and can play a variety of unorthodox shots which are both attractive and effective. The fast [aced game asks for such out of the box ideas to score runs and even the most orthodox cricketers have and change of mind and opt to give such things a try.
Hashim Amla is one of them. Amla, who is currently playing for the Trinbago Knight Riders, tried the famous scoop shot but failed badly at it. The light-hearted incident happened in the 19th over of game when Amla tried to scoop the ball over the head of the fine leg fielder standing inside the circle.
Unluckily, he couldn’t connect the shot well as Ravi Rampaul, the bowler, bowled a slow cutter which barely reach hi bat after one bounce. The lack pace didn’t allow him to scoop the ball and he had to eventually improvise and hit the ball in the ‘French Cricket way.’
French Cricket an informal variety of the game played with a soft ball which is bowled at the batsmen’s legs. The batsman loses his wicket of he is caught or hit on the legs.
It was actually a good thought. Trying something new is always great. But, perhaps he needs to works on the time and judgement part. Help in fact is within his reach always as he can try getting some tips from his fellow teammate and the master of such antics – AB de Villiers.
