South Africa beat the hosts by 139 runs in the 6th match of the tri-series in West Indies. Defending a total of 344, it was the South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir, who ran through the Windies batting line-up.
He started off with breaking the threatening opening partnership of 69 runs between the Andre Fletcher and Johnson Charles. When he came to bowl in the 7th over of the match, the score was 58/0, going almost at 10 runs an over. He sent a message in his first over itself, conceding just 2 runs and making the opposition understand that there are no dollies to get the runs.
In his second over, he broke the partnership with the wicket of Fletcher, who ended up in the hands of Behardien at deep mid-wicket. The false shot from Fletcher was created with the pressure built with Tahir’s first over.
However, Marlon Samuels, who won the last match for his side against Australia, was getting set and the South African skipper brought Tahir for his second spell. The leggie got him to edged one to the wicketkeeper when he was on 24. With his wicket, Imran Tahir became the fastest South African to claim 100 ODI wickets and the fourth-fastest overall.

With Kieron Pollard at the crease along and Jason Holder, Carlos Brathwaite yet to come, Windies still had their hopes alive. Tahir destroyed all hopes of a revival in the chase dismissing all three of them in one over and end the opposition’s hopes.
Then the context was all about how much more he could get, with two wickets left. He claimed both of them and ended with his best bowling figures in ODI cricket with 7/45. Also, the best ever bowling figures for a South African and the 9th best overall.
