Watch: Karun Nair‘s parents share touching video message

The 19th of December 2016 will always be remembered as the day Karun Nair made the world turn upside down. Of course, he was expected to come good having done so well at the domestic level, but, on the 4th day of the 5th Test he played so well that he would be quite effectively immortalized for the entire ordeal.

Nair’s unbeaten 303 ensured that the Indians will remain unbeaten for the 18th straight Test match, something no other Indian side has done previously. They now stand on the brink of making that 21 given the fact that Australia’s tour is still due, to say the least.

Following the close of play, Nair caught up with veteran commentator Ravi Shastri. While the latter does not have a triple-ton to his name in international cricket, there was a rather personal touch to what he had to say to 25-year old Karun. When quizzed about the same, Nair went on to add that his parents were indeed present in the vicinity of the M Chidambaram Stadium and that he was not fazed by the fact that his parents were watching him play.

In fact, Nair also added that his father was one of the bigger influences in his game whilst adding that his dad watched all of the games he played in. However, apart from the personal touch, Nair did not look to be extremely carried away by the ordeal as there was a certain seriousness to the way he spoke.

He seemed like a man determined to not only climb the summit again but to overhaul it with more of his batting displays in the future. Even the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi took to social media to laud the youngster for his amazing performance on the day against England.
