The Zonal T20 competition is underway in India where the domestic sides are playing other teams from their zones to crown the champion of the region. It is a revised version of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy that was scrapped by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) last year. Playing for Kerala against Tamil Nadu in the South Zone batsman Raiphi Gomez hit a massive six that went all over the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

In the 19th over of Kerala innings, Aswin Crist made the mistake of bowling a full delivery in the right zone for that batsman to hit and it was as gentle as 117 kmph in pace. Sensing it Raiphi swung his bat in full force with a beautiful follow through to hit across the line of the delivery and off she went. The camera was soon watching the sky. It went many a mile in the air but also had the elevation to travel the distance.

Chepauk isn’t among the smaller grounds in India and clearing it with such ease is something he should be rather proud of. The 31-year-old has played 60 T20 matches scoring 760 runs that includes two half centuries and has the best of unbeaten 62.

Former Indian pacer S Sreesanth was impressed by the shot and tweeted a video along with a caption that read- “Raiphi Vincent Gomez hitting the ball outside the  stadium.against Tamil Nadu,.great talent Nd a match winner from any situation..#inspired”

His hit can be related to KL Rahul’s magnanimous six that he recently hit in the last T20I between India and England at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Rahul came down the track and hit the ball so well that it landed right on the roof and rolled its way out.

Moeen Ali was the bowler bowling just the second ball of his spell on the night. India were going at a decent rate until then and Rahul took the adventurous route and smashed it all over, one of the bigger sixes we have seen in international cricket in recent times.
