Watch: Mike Gatting drops the sitter of all sitters: Mike Gatting the former English captain is well renowned for being a pugnacious and a combative batsman in his time. He was one of the most popular figures of English cricket back in his days.
In the 1992-93 series vs India he became the talk of the town for a rather strange reason. He spilled one of the most seemingly easiest catches that one would ever get to catch.

Indian batsmen were batting. The English leg spinner was ready to deliver the ball. With good turn and a little awkward bounce the ball bamboozled the batsman and went straight into the hands of Mike Gatting at silly point after getting deflected from his glove.

Everyone in the stadium thought it was out and the umpire was in the process of lifting up his index finger. But to everyone’s surprise Gatting spilled the catch, and the bowler was dismayed and frustrated, very rightly so.

Gatting was looking at the sun so that others would infer it was the sun that probably distracted him from grabbing that sitter. No matter how much ever he tried to cover up the embarrassment the shame only got intensified further.

Someone on YouTube commented ,”HAD IT BEEN A CHEESE SARNIE – HE WOULDN’T HAVE DROPPED IT”.. It was a funny dropped catch and no matter how many times you replay it, you still can’t stop wondering how on earth he managed to let ball slip through his palms.
