Watch: Misbah-ul-Haq smashes fastest Test century: Abu Dhabi witnessed a robust performance by Misbah-ul-Haq, as the batsman scored a hundred off 56 balls to equal Sir Viv Richards 28-year- old record for the fastest century in Test cricket.

The record for the fastest Test hundred in terms of balls faced was set by West Indian legend Viv Richards, against England at Antigua in 1986, who also took 56 balls.

Misbah was on fire, as he smashed the fastest fifty off 21 balls.

This was also the second fastest hundred in terms of time, behind Australia’s Jack Gregory who reached a hundred after 70 minutes batting against South Africa at Johannesburg in 1921.

Misbah reached the landmark in 74 minutes. The right-hander smashed Steve Smith for 3 sixes and a boundary in one over, and carried on the momentum by towering another one out of the park by the same bowler.

This was also the first time that an opposition captain has scored twin centuries against Australia in a Test match.
