Watch: Mohit Sharma pick's up a hat-trick against Delhi in Ranji Trophy
Mohit Sharma pick’s up a hat-trick against Delhi in Ranji Trophy: The ongoing season of Ranji Trophy has so many things for the players to prove. While the senior players are trying their best to get back into the national side; meanwhile the young players are also trying their heart-out by delivering the best shot. After Yuvraj Singh’s splendid back to back centuries, his former team-mate Virender Sehwag is also displayed us some sensational batting form. Despite of Viru’s century, the Ranji battle between Delhi and Haryana, most importantly highlighted the blistering hat trick from the Haryana pacer, Mohit Sharma.
Delhi scored 278/7 in 83 overs on the first day of the match at the Chaudhry Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium; all thanks to Sehwag’s fantastic knock of 147. On the other hand, Mohit Sharma could manage to finish his 16 overs by conceding 46 runs and picking up only a single wicket on day 1. Delhi resumed with their over-night pair of Virender Sehwag and Sumit Narwal. In this case, the no. 9 batsman, Narwal could just stand like a spectator and watch his team-mates falling to the Haryana pacer-man one by one.
It was the first over of the day and Mohit Sharma bowled the 3rd one, a short-pitched delivery to Sehwag who shaped his bat to play an upper cut over the keeper’s head. But all he could manage was a nick off his bat Haryana wicket-keeper Nitin Saini grabbed a tall jumping catch. This was followed by two successive wickets.
The second wicket to fall was Parvinder Awana, who was caught by Joginder Sharma. Joginder held on to a good running catch to ensure Awana’s return to the pavilion. Next up, was the dismissal of Navdeep Amarjeet Sainia. The 26-year-old pacer, bowled a good length delivery right on the off stump to the new batsman, the ball was pitched perfectly and Navdeep’s had no clue of the delivery and the ball went on to hit the off-stump. And with this, Delhi were done in their first innings without adding any single run today morning.
Mohit, who had decent chances of getting picked in to the 15 men squad for the world cup 2015, would be a little disappointed because he could not get a ticket to Australia for the ICC mega event. But, he will sure be looking forward to continue his dream run in the upcoming tri-series in Australia.
