Watch: MS Dhoni rediscovers his big-hitting mojo

MS Dhoni, the Indian ODI and T20I skipper, has been under fire for not just the team’s performances but also for his batting ability. While he continues to score consistently for the team, it is his big-hitting ability that seems to have deserted him in recent times. There was a time when the powerful right-hander used to take on the bowlers from the outset, however, this sight has gone missing of late. The fact that India lacks a power hitter in the lower order hasn’t helped Dhoni’s case either putting the entire onus him.

In the second ODI against the Aussies at the ‘G’, the skipper though rediscovered his Midas touch and spanked a 9-ball 23 including 2 fours and 2 cleanly struck sixes. He teed off to a short, slower back of the hand ball and hammered it flat and hard over midwicket for a six to get going off Faulkner. In the same over his smashed a low full toss outside off past extra cover for a cracking four.

Hastings was in for a pasting as the back of a length leg-cutter outside off was picked up and lifted over backward square leg for another boundary. The big fast bowler erred in length again and the low full toss was punished over long-on for a big six.

The bowler, though, got his revenge as he had his man in the same over but the Indian skipper sure did entertain the huge Indian crowd at the MCG. India posted 295/6 in a must-win encounter at the historic ground. Virat Kohli’s magnificent hundred was a major highlight of the Indian innings along with Dhoni’s cameo.
