Watch: MS Dhoni’s supersonic stumping to dismiss George Bailey
India were up against Australia for the third game of the 5-match series at Melbourne. Having already lost the first two encounters, Indians set the Aussies a target of 296 to chase in the 3rd.
Like the usual, the Aussies looked comfortably on their way as the in-form pair of George Bailey and Shaun Marsh was at the crease looking at ease. Indians were desperate for a wicket and that is when the man with the golden arm, Ravindra Jadeja came to skipper Dhoni’s behest.
At that time, Australia were sitting pretty at 150 for the loss of just two wickets. Jadeja at that moment decided to pull out a magic delivery from his locker. He bowled one beautifully and slow to entice George Bailey to come up front and drive. As he accepted the invitation, the ball gripped off the surface and spun across the outside edge of Bailey’s bat. What followed was magic from the skipper behind the stumps.
Twitter too was quick to acknowledge Dhoni’s efforts – Twitter Reactions: Twitter hails MS Dhoni’s quick work behind the wickets
MS Dhoni was rapid with his glove-work as he gathered the ball and whipped the bails off within a blink of an eye. Bailey came second to Dhoni’s speed on the ball as he failed to make his ground in time. MSD was quite ecstatic from the very moment he dislodged the bails. Such reactions from the otherwise ‘cool and calm’ guy goes on to tell about his confidence on his job behind the stumps. The huge Indian contingent gathered in support of their team roared in delight as the giant screen read ‘OUT’, after the third umpire’s ruling.
The commentators on air were all praise for the Indian skipper as well as they rightly pointed out that his hands were already moving in towards the ball in anticipation of the stumping. He later went on to run out Mitchell Marsh also, once again bringing his outstanding glove-work to the fore.
