India started their tour on a positive note with a big win in the T20 warm-up game against Western Australian XI at Perth. Indian captain MS Dhoni had a couple of good moments with both bat and also with the gloves behind the stumps.

Dhoni walked into bat at No.4 while the Indian scoreboard read 161/2 with 20 balls remaining after he won the toss and elected to bat. He smashed the 2nd ball he faced in his innings for a huge six by pulling it over fine leg region off Nicholas’ bowling.

Later hit struck one more six of Nicholas’ bowling in 19th over, this time by a pull over the deep midwicket fence. He punched a low full toss off Duffield in final over for boundary finishing on 22 off 14 balls.

Dhoni also effected a couple of quick stumpings behind the wickets during WACA XI’s innings. Nick Hobson got stumped in Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling trying to play a full delivery. Dhoni didn’t make any mistake in removing the stumps before Hobson got back to his crease. Later Dhoni pulled off a lightening quick stumping off Akshar Patel’s bowling to send back Mathew Kelly.

The first match proved to be a good one for the Indian team as they beat the hosts comfortably. Most of the Indian batsmen who came out to bat looked in good touch and so did the Indian bowlers picking wickets and getting a feel of the surface as well.
