Watch: Najibullah Zadran clears the boundary with the most bizarre shot you'll ever see
In the modern era, it’s quite safe to say that batsmen have dominated the bowlers at another level. The introduction of power plays resulting in field restrictions has made batting easier and run flow swifter. We’ve seen so many unorthodox shots played by batsmen all around the world. Brendon McCullum has been one brash players who have displayed sensational stroke making with his style.
Glenn Maxwell’s reverse sweep is more predictable than Wahab Riaz bowling a no ball. The Dilscoop by Dilshan, the switch hit by Kevin Pietersen, the uppercut by both Sehwag and the great Tendulkar. Then there’s MS Dhoni who’s been known to generate lots of power as he hits the ball in his helicopter style. And talking about unorthodox style of hitting, it would be a crime to forget the superman AB De Villiers who’s got every shot in his book.
T20s have hugely impacted the evolution of batting like that. The format needs runs at a brisk pace and batsmen have discovered different ways to produce runs, no matter in what style. As Abu Dhabi witnessed some T20 cricketing action between Afghanistan and UAE on Monday, we saw another such hit for a maximum by Afghanistan’s Najibullah Zadran.
Chasing a wide delivery, Najib stretched himself to reach the delivery, falling in the process but manages to smash the ball for a six. It was one of the most enticing shots you’d ever see in cricket. Afghanistan ended up winning the game by 5 wickets with more than an over to spare.
