75230Former England captain and ace cricket commentator Nasser Hussain achieved a unique feat after he entered the prestigious Guinness World record Book for the highest catch of a cricket ball. Hussain took the challenge at the Lord’s Cricket ground, London.

The ball was dropped from a ‘Batcam’ at an estimated speed of around 74 miles. Hussain recalled how his attempts to take catches in the past have been complete failures. He recalled how he dropped a simple catch from Graeme Smith when he last played at this venue. he had also let down a sitter during the Sky Sports slips catch demonstration with Ricky Ponting, Mike Atherton (he dropped the catch after nearly replicated Ben Stokes amazing catch few moments earlier).

Hussain had three attempts to create the record. At the first attempt, the ball was dropped from height of 100 ft which Hussain easily pouched. He was unsatisfied with unchallenging height and upped the stakes for the next attempt.

The ball was then dropped from 150 ft and Hussain face no problems taking that too. His third attempt, from a height of 400 ft was unsuccessful though and was disqualified. Nevertheless, he had created a new record for the highest catch of a cricket ball.

After setting the record, Hussain said: “Sky Sports are always looking to push the limits and be innovative in their approach to coverage, and this was certainly a very different experience for me.

“It was great fun attempting to catch cricket balls dropped from a drone at the home of cricket – something I never thought I would do. But I am now looking forward to giving my hands a rest and getting back to the commentary box for the upcoming Test match.”
