Watch: Ravi Bopara and Ryan ten Doeschate play cricket with Arsenal Football players: Arsenal Football Club invited England and Netherlands internationals, Ravi Bopara and Ryan ten Doeschate to the Arsenal Training Ground to take part in a cricket challenge earlier this month amidst the Ashes.

The cricket duo combined with the English stars Theo Walcott and Alex Oxdale-Chamberlain and taught newcomers to the sport David Ospina and Gabriel Paulista how to bowl, before taking part in a bowling competition. The query is what happens when two Englishmen teach cricket to a Spanish goalkeeper and a Brazilian defender? The footballers got some tips as to how to bowl from the two seasoned cricketers and after that they got down to business.

All the players got three chances to have a go at the stumps and the team which hits the wickets the maximum number of times wins the competition.

The teams were:

Team 1: Ravi Bopara, Theo Walcott, Gabriel.

Team 2: Ryan ten Doeschate, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, David Opsina.

Theo and the Ox bowled with relative confidence, even hitting the stumps occasionally. The bowl out was level at 5-5 with Ospinia and Gabriel being the worst among the lot. Unsurprisingly, the defensive duo failed to shine in their new skillset, with Gabriel resembling next to a chucker, while Ospina’s deliveries ended up closer to the boundary than the stumps. The match was eventually decided after a sudden death.
