If Dhoni is standing close to the stumps you better think thrice before getting out of your batting crease. But, last night Lendl Simmons seemed to have forgotten this completely and bore the consequences

West Indies could not emulate the maniacal batting performance they displayed in the first match. They looked in complete disarray and were bundled out for just 143 in the first innings. The start was rather slow. Mohammad Shami and Amit Mishra took a wicket each to put West Indies under pressure.

Things began to get bad after Marlon Samuels and Lendl Simmons began struggling against the Indian spinners. The spinners had created a sense of desperation in the minds of both the batsmen as runs began to dry.

The sense of desperation ultimately became the reason for Simmons’ dismissal in a rather absurd manner. In the 10th over, right-hander finally thought of breaking the shackles and get going. The bowler against him was the clever Ravichandran Ashwin.

As it happened, Simmons tried to jump out of the crease and get under the ball looking for a big heave. Unfortunately for him, the off-spinner had sensed him coming down the crease and fired the ball down the leg side. Simmons failed to make any contact in an awkward attempt and was left struggling outside the batting crease as MS Dhoni collected the ball without any fumble to stump him out.

The 2nd T20I between India and West Indies in Florida was a rain-affected affair. There was no outcome to the game after the heavy downpour forced the match to be abandoned just after India had begun chasing West Indies’ target in the second innings.
