In the 2nd T20I against Australia at the MCG, Ravindra Jadeja stunned Shane Watson with a brilliant return catch to knock the sails off Australia’s chase. Umesh Yadav’s fielding off the previous ball was good however this moment was nothing short of sensational. The right-handed Watson had absolutely drilled the ball right back at the umpire’s head. While all the eyes were on the ducking umpire and the boundary, Jadeja got both his hands in the air and took the catch without any fuss.
Those who saw some of India’s more ordinary fielding at times during the ODI series may have been surprised to see the evident desperation at the start of Australia’s chase of 185 at the historic ground. Virat Kohli put in a full-length dive at mid off to save three runs from a Shaun Marsh straight drive. Hardik Pandya went one better with a superb chase, dive and save to prevent another Marsh boundary at long on but Kohli had another moment’s agility in store, throwing himself to back up successfully after a shy at the stumps following an Australian quick single. India’s serenity made for a marked contrast, as an unchanged team from Adelaide built steadily into a firm tally batting first before defending it grandly with the help of some tremendous fielding from all players. Jadeja though took the limelight with this magnificent take. Home side skipper Asron Finch (74) looked like guiding Australia to a successful run chase before his dismissal was part of a poor run for the Aussie batsmen in which they lost five wickets for 30 runs that gave India a series win with one match to spare.
