Watch: Rishabh Pant gets runout in laziest fashion possible
Pant was so much into the appeal that he forgot he was out of his crease.
Delhi Daredevils are surely out of contention for the playoffs now. However, they still have their pride at stake to play for in the remaining fixtures for them this season. Their fans have been very loyal as they have flocked the venues every time the double Ds have taken the field. One key reason for their increasing fan base has been their out and out approach shown by the young batting talents like Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant.
Pant, in particular, has been a revelation for the Delhi Daredevils this season. He arrived at the tournament riding on some superlative performances in the domestic circuit. With a triple ton to his name in the Ranji Trophy, his talent needed no introduction. He showed glimpses of his power hitting when he clobbered Umesh Yadav for 26 runs in an over in one of the earlier fixtures in the IPL 10.
However, his moment of glory was when he forged a 143 run stand with Sanju Samson against the Gujarat Lions to help them overhaul the mighty target of 208 to win at Delhi. En route the stand, he scored a belligerent 97 to announce his arrival at the crease.
A similar stage was set in the match 50 of the season. Rishabh Pant had the same opposition to play against in the reverse fixture. This time around, they again needed a mammoth target to achieve with 195 runs were put on the board by Gujarat Lions.
He came in to bat after the dismissal of Samson in the innings. He started off on a high by hitting a boundary on the very first ball of the match. Things did not continue to be on the merry run after that as he had a brain fade moment. Pradeep Sangwan managed to hit him on his pads and the Lions fielders started to appeal. Pant was so much into the appeal that he forgot he was out of his crease.
GL skipper Suresh Raina made the most out of the opportunity and had Rishabh Pant run out on with a direct hit. Watch the unusual run out from Pant in the game against the Lions here:
