Veteran batsman Rob Quiney has been a key player in the Australian domestic circuit for a long while and it is safe to say that the left-handed batsman is a pro of the shortest format of the game. In the recent times, he has not been the most attacking performer. However, in the encounter against Hobart Hurricanes this Monday, Quiney showed what serious hitting is all about. Playing for the Melbourne Stars, he plundered 75 off just 43 balls to see his team beat Hobart Hurricanes with ease.

The Stars had a stiff task in hand when they had to chase 189 for the victory. Propelled by the big hitting of Quiney, Melbourne Stars were home with ease. They overhauled the target in mere 17.4 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Quiney, en route his belligerent 75, hit a massive six over deep square leg. It apparently looked like the biggest six of the season thus far.

The action perspired in the 15th over when the Stars needed 43 to win off 35 balls. On the second delivery by Hamish Kinsgton, the southpaw flicked the short of length delivery with ease. The ball went flying high up in the air and kept going higher. The ball eventually landed in the second tier. The commentators were in awe of the shot.

Ricky Ponting was quick to cite as the biggest six of the tournament so far. “That’s not the biggest of the night, that’s the biggest of the tournament so far. That’s a huge hit. That’s up in the top tier, that looked unbelievable,” remarked Ponting from the comm box. Quiney was only unlucky to have not been able to finish the match for the Stars. He was dismissed in the 16th over. He was, however, adjudged the Man of the Match for his efforts.
