Watch: Rohit Sharma steps out and slams Steyn for a six over his head: Dale Steyn is the best bowler in the world today and that too by a fair distance. He has had a history of sledging with Rohit Sharma, famously during the 2013 tour to South Africa, where Rohit had no answer to Steyn’s swinging deliveries. Since that tour, Rohit has transformed himself though and he would’ve wanted to answer Steyn during the World Cup clash between India and South Africa. He played out the first over by Steyn, which was a maiden, hoping to come back stronger in the second over. Alas! He got himself run-out for a duck and that was the end of the battle.

During this series, though, Rohit has been exceptional and he has batted beautifully against both pace and spin. In the 3^rd ODI though, India were off to a slow start and Dale Steyn got some movement off the ball. Rohit wanted to break the shackles, else if Steyn found his rhythm, it would be very difficult for India to deal with him on a two-paced wicket.

In the 13^th over, only 3 runs had come off the first 4 balls while it was still a little early in the chase, India had to shift to the 2^nd gear if they were to chase down the South African total. And then came this moment, where you’d witness one of the rarest shots off Steyn’s bowling, a batsman stepping down the wicket and hitting it over his head. Rohit stamped his authority over this shot and won this battle with Steyn. Next few weeks are going to offer us more such battles, it will be exciting to see who wins those.
