Watch: Shadab Khan being showered with love from fans
This video will melt your heart
It is a well-renowned fact that the sport of Cricket is as good as a religion in the Asian Sub-continent comprising cricket-frenzied nation such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, full of volatile fans. Shadab Khan recently found out the affections one can receive when a cricketer bring laurels to the country.
Pakistan faced the wrath of fans when they lost to their immediate neighbors in the first match they played in the tournament. No one gave the team even an outside chance to even get close to the coveted trophy. The players, domestic structure of Pakistan Cricket Board, and selection policies were heavily criticized post the match.
However, the men in green caused one of the greatest turnarounds in recent history especially coming back from the humiliating defeat against the Indians. Their bowling attack was unplayable on several occasion and even the greatest batting line-ups of the world had no answer to the spirited bowlers of Pakistan. The dodgy batting lineup of Pakistan just about managed to back the good work from the bowlers as they found their feet during the crunch stage of the tournament.
Pakistan upset the batting heavy lineups of South Africa, England, and India to clinch their maiden Champions Trophy. Sarfraz Ahmed played his part in the victory by leading the pack ideally and set an example by steering his side home in the virtual quarter-finals against Sri Lanka, as Pakistan lost batsman at regular intervals.
They met their old foes in the finals yet again and overhauled them, putting to rest all criticism with a necessary vengeance. As a result, people of Pakistan welcomed their heroes with open arms and Shadab Khan was one who received all the attention from a fan who seemed awestruck with the performance of the boys.
