In the last one week, two former Pakistan cricketers and skippers Shahid Afridi and Javed Miandad made a lot of news, even more than the Pakistan team that is playing the first day-night Test match against West Indies in Dubai. Miandad wasn’t pleased with Afridi’s demand for a farewell game and went to the extent of calling him a match-fixer.

Afridi on the farewell game had said that he has enough respect and even if he doesn’t get to play the last match and sign off it won’t matter much to him. “Allah has given me respect and it can’t be taken away whether I play the farewell match or not”, he said.

Miandad’s response to this was pretty hot as he said he had caught the all-rounder taking money. “These people are fixers”, he said. “I tell Afridi to swear upon his children and say he has not thrown away Pakistan’s matches. I am a witness, I caught him myself,”

After the incident hogged the limelight and with both not willing to budge from their stands, a list of former Pakistani cricketers had appealed to calm things down. Earlier today ABP Live reported that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim called Afridi and told him to “either shut up or face the consequences”.

The duo met today and talked through all the bitterness and finished it off exchanging sweets. “Afridi is like a younger brother,” said Miandad in the video message. “And I have already stated that everything is finish from my side. A lot of things happen in the heat of the moment. And I know that Afridi is still unhappy with a few things I said but I take all my words back.”

The all-rounder also wished to bury it off. “I am happy to meet you,” said Afridi. “I never wanted you to say sorry to me because you are elder to me. You have taken your words back and that is enough for me and all my fans. I am also sorry for all things that I said and that might have hurt you.”
