Watch: Shardul Thakur throws the ball twice at Australian batsmen
Indian fast bowlers aren’t the genuinely quick bowlers and not the most aggressive ones the game has seen. But the new breed of pacers emerging in India clock high speeds on the gun and have a dominating approach, where they want to have the upper hand on the batsmen at all times. It was on display during the Australia A vs India A first unofficial Test at Brisbane as India’s Shardul Thakur was seen hurling the ball at a couple of Australian batsmen.
Both the batsmen defended the ball and were a step or two out of the crease, Thakur in his attempt to hit at the stumps and catch the batsmen short threw the ball but once it went onto hit the bat and was deflected. In the second attempt it probably hit the batsman on the body and would have hurt him which was not really the best move from the bowler.
The game is quite evenly poised after two days; Team India was bowled out for 230 in the first inning. Skipper Manish Pandey was the top scorer with 77 while opener Faiz Fazal got out two short of the half-century. Leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson was the pick of the bowlers who returned with a 4-wicket haul while right-arm medium pacer David Moody also grabbed 3 wickets.
In their reply, Australia were restricted 2 runs in deficit as the Indian bowlers bowled good lines and didn’t let most of the Aussie batters to get off to a start. Two of their batsmen opener Joe Burns and Peter Handscomb scored half centuries with scores of 78 and 87 respectively apart from them nobody even crossed into the 20s. For India, pacer Varun Aaron and spinner Jayant Yadav picked 3 wickets each. Team India in the second inning is batting with 44 runs in their account for the loss of two wickets.
