The Royal Challengers Bangalore fielders, Stuart Binny and AB de Villiers in particular, showed great fielding skills despite the team’s crucial defeat in the match against Mumbai Indians. The two fielders showed two epic moments of brilliance on the field to lift the spirits of their side.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore put a modest below par total on the board which never seemed to be posing any threat to the Mumbai Indians. However, some great fielding efforts saw hiccups in the Mumbai run chase. While Binny took a stunner to dismiss Nitish Rana, it was the wise old man AB who caught a blinder diving forward at long-on to dismiss the well set batsman Ambati Rayudu.
It was 13th over of the Mumbai Indians’ run chase when Yuzvendra Chahal had the ball in hand. He bowled a straighter one to the debutant batsman Nitish Rana. Rana looked to break the shackles and powered the ball over the covers with brute force. The ball went flying and looked like a certain six until Stuart Binny leaped high and grabbed a stunner. He caught the ball somersaulting on the cover fence to send the young Delhi batsman back to the pavilion. The entire team erupted in joy and celebrated the moment.
For Binny, who had put down two dollies earlier in the tournament in the match against Mumbai Indians, this was redemption time to make amendments. However, the fielding brilliance wasn’t enough on the day for RCB as they suffered a 6 wicket defeat.
