Bangladesh has raised their cricketing standards in the recent past and their current performances in all formats of the game is a sheer proof of their credentials. Their rise in the longest format of the game has been worth watching. Despite not winning too many games, their performances in Test cricket have improved drastically. In the very recent series against New Zealand and India, they performed pretty well despite losing all the matches.

But in both the series there were instances when the Bangladesh batsmen were dismissed in hilarious fashion and took horrendous reviews. Especially in the Test against India, the reviews taken by Mushfiqur Rahim was really unacceptable as the Tigers made a mockery of themselves. Even in the ongoing Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka something hilarious happened though it was not involving the Decision Review System.

In pursuit of a big Sri Lankan total of 494 in the 1st innings, visitors Bangladesh went off to a rollicking start with openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar looking in complete control of proceedings. The duo struck some delightful blows and shared a magnificent century stand between them. But in the 36th over with the score reading 118/1, Tamim Iqbal was dismissed in the weirdest of manners.

As left-arm chinaman bowler Lakshan Sandakan bowled a delivery outside the leg stump, Iqbal went for an attempted flick. He missed the ball completely and it was grabbed by Niroshan Dickwella behind the stumps. As he was appealing, Tamim moved out of his crease in pursuit of a run but to his utter disbelief, Dickwella removed the bails in flash.

Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha was utterly disappointed with the occurrence especially because the duo was going great guns top of the order. “You know, the buzzword now in cricket is brain fade. That’s what happened there.”

“I am very disappointed because we were cruising at that time. They were batting very well. There were no demons at that time. Actually he batted really well. I was very pleased the way he approached the innings. He probably thought that the ball had gone past the keeper. He hasn’t spoken to me yet,” Hathurusingha was quoted as saying by DNA.

The Sri Lankan spin duo of Rangana Herath and Dilruwan Perera ensured the visitors were bundled out for 312 in the 1st innings giving Sri Lanka a massive lead of 182 runs. Rain played spoilsport in the last hour in the day and play had to be called off early.
