Defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders snatched a wonderful win over Barbados Tridents. A blistering fifty from New Zealander Colin Munro saw them chase down a stiff target of 173 with 16 balls to spare.
Munro came after Perkins departed prematurely in the 5th over. The Kiwi hard-hitter was all brute and aggression. He looked in a complete hurry to finish the game. He received the calm support of Hashim Amla from the other end who made 31. Together the duo put on 107 runs stand for the 2nd wicket.
Thanks to Munro’s all out attack on the Tridents bowlers, the game was as good as over for the bowling side. Unfortunately, none out of the two could stay till the en da winning runs as Amla and Munro were dismissed in the 15th and the 16th over respectively. Denesh Ramdin and skipper Dwayne Bravo then did the formalities by hitting the remainder of runs.
The fun part of the match came when Bravo hit the winning runs. He couldn’t control his inner rock star instinct and performed the viral ‘champion’ moves. This win, which took them into the top four of the points table, was highly important for them to stay in a healthy state in the tournament. Robin Petersen the bowler, was amused and shook hand with a smile on his face.
