Coming back to match, Sri Lanka resumed Day 3 at 108/4. However, they could manage to add only 66 runs for the loss of the remaining six wickets. Right-handed batter Pathum Nissanka was the top scorer for the visitors in their first innings, making an unbeaten 61. Indian allrounder Ravindra Jadeja, who made unbeaten 175 during the first innings, also bagged a five-wicket haul.
After bundling out Sri Lanka for 174, India invited the visitors to bat again after enforcing the follow-on. The home side went on to their task straightaway and toppled the Sri Lankan batting order in 60 overs. Earlier in the game, India after winning the toss decided to bat first with contributions coming from most of the batting order. Jadeja who was announced player of the match was also the top contributor for the home side.
