Watch: Virat Kohli escapes injury scare while fielding on day 2 of the Mumbai Test
Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli likes to give it all on the field, he is someone who believes in setting examples and leading the team from the front. It was on display when he sprinted to chase a ball to the boundary. In the 105th over of the England innings Chris Woakes edged a Ravichandran Ashwin delivery and it was racing towards the boundary.
But Kohli who absolutely hates to concede boundaries was determined to not let it go through. He ran hard and slid to collect, pickup and throw the ball in swift motion. But there probably was a soft patch on the outfield, his knee got stuck in there, uprooted a substantial portion of the grass and disrupted his balance. He once again tumbled on the other knee.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar who was the sweeper in the deep was also there to cover the ball and after Kohli hurt himself he threw the ball back to the wicketkeeper and checked if the skipper was fine. He looked in pain, checked his knee but the tough man that he is got back on his feet, Virat went back to his fielding position stretched a bit and was fine and running again.
He continued for the rest of the England inning but would have certainly caused some damage. The good thing is the visitors were bowled out soon and he now has time to let it rest before walking out once again to bat.
England to their credit batted really well in the first inning and posted a really competitive score of 400 runs. The ball has now started to turn and the game will become easier for the bowlers as it progresses, the Indian spinners were in complete dominance as far as picking the wickets is concerned during the innings as Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja shared all the ten wickets between them. Ashwin picked 6 and Jadeja had to settle with 4.
