Watch: Virat Kohli’s innings against WACA XI

Indian batting star Virat Kohli was seen in full flow as he struck form at the right time against WACA XI in the warm-up T20 match.

Kohli joined fellow Delhi-mate Shikhar Dhawan in the middle after the fall of Rohit Sharma in the third over. They added 149 runs for the second wicket. He was particularly severe against the pacers. He was neither reluctant to go on the front foot to drive nor afraid to step back to hook and flick. He demonstrated a wide array of shots as he played all around the park.

Some of his shots oozed off the man’s sheer confidence. The pull for six over mid-wicket and the front foot drive for a maximum over long off stand out. He displayed his vintage wrist work as he brought out some exemplary flicks through the mid-wicket region. He reminded us of the Kohli during his extended purple patch. Hopefully for team India, he continues his good run in the series as well.

He finished at 74 runs off 44 balls which included 7 fours and 3 mighty sixes. The Kohli-Dhawan partnership helped India post 192 on the board which was always going to be a tough ask for WACA team. And like it happened the Indian bowlers hooked them up and did not let them score freely picking regular wickets and in the end, India won the match comfortably by 74 runs.
