Flamboyant Dera Sacha Sauda leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has often mentioned that he has played a key role in Team India skipper Virat Kohli’s success as a cricketer. In 2016, Singh had said that he guided Kohli during his initial days when he failed to convert good starts. The self-styled Godman also claims that Vijender Singh has become a world-class boxer only after taking his blessings.
A clip is doing the rounds on social media, where Kohli along with Ashish Nehra can be seen taking blessings from the leader. Looking at the clip, one can state that it is an old footage, probably during Kohli’s initial days in international cricket. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan became the head of Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda in 1990.
During his childhood, he claimed that he was having supernatural powers. Baba loves attention, he loves cars and jets. He has produced five movies so far — ‘MSG’ being the most popular. Gurmeet is also among the very few ‘VVIPs’ in the country who enjoy Z-Plus security. It has been believed that he has earned hundreds of crores from his movies.
When Baba coached Kohli
“I have accomplished several feats in my life. As you may have noticed, I am capable of doing so many things. I have participated in 32 different sports at the national level and have coached as well,” Guru Ram Rahim had said earlier during an interview.
“The youngsters whom I have coached are doing well for the nation today. There is boxer Vijender Singh who is winning so many medals for the country. Then there is Virat Kohli. I have this video of him with me where he came to me to learn so many things and now he one of the best in the world,” Rahim claimed.
Not sure about the blessings, but skipper Kohli is doing pretty good at the helm of things. India won the Test series 3-0 and are currently leading the ODI series by 2-0. He scored an unbeaten 82 in the 1st ODI and stitched a 197-run stand with opener Shikhar Dhawan. A rare failure saw Kohli lose his stumps in the 2nd game having scored just 4 runs. After the ODIs, India will play in the one off T20I against Sri Lanka.
