Watch: Worst umpiring decision- edged and taken cleanly, still umpire calls it NOT OUT: Quite often, bad umpiring decisions have been witnessed in cricket and some of them are deadly enough. Speaking about it, an instance definitely needs to be put up. It was the match between South Africa and India in the 3rd ODI of the Future Cup in July, 2007 at Belfast.

The match was a rain intervened one and India opted to field first after winning the toss. It was reduced to 31-overs a side. South Africa were reduced to 8/2 under 4 overs. In the 5th over of the innings bowled by Zaheer Khan, AB de Villiers, who happened to open the innings was on strike. On an out-swinger bowled by Zaheer right in the first delivery of the 5th over, de Villiers edged the ball and was cleanly caught by Sachin Tendulkar standing at the first slip. But it did not convince the on-field umpire Aleem Dar and AB was adjudged Not Out and it went down as perhaps one of the most bizarre decisions of international cricket. Also, on the part of de Villiers it was something unexpected from him judging by the spirit of the game. Indian fielders were awestruck as a result of such a flawy umpiring.

However, AB did not last long. He was dismissed in the 13th over of the innings by Sourav Ganguly. He scored a total of 15 runs off 35 deliveries. South Africa managed to score a total of 148 runs on the board after 31 overs. In reply, India cruised onto the total and won the match by a margin of 6 wickets. Yuvraj Singh top scored for India and remained unbeaten at 61.

Grab a look at the video of the most bizarre mistake by Aleem Dar.
