Watch: Yuvraj Singh back in action at the team India practice session
Earlier, Yuvraj Singh had missed the first practice session of the team at Lord's.
Team India registered an emphatic win over the Bangladeshi team in their second warm-up game at the Kennington Oval. They thrashed the opposition by a mammoth margin of 240 runs in the game. The effort has to be lauded for the reason that the huge first innings score was posted sans the services of veteran batsmen like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Yuvraj Singh.
While Dhoni opted to have a rest day ahead of the tournament proper, Virat Kohli had a good run with the bat in the first warm-up game. Hence, the team thought it would be prudent to rest those two players and let the other batsmen spend some time in the middle. The third big name in the team, and the seniormost member of the Indian squad, Yuvraj Singh had his injury concerns to worry about.
Earlier, Yuvraj Singh had missed the first practice session of the team at Lord’s. Later, it was revealed that fever was the main reason why he had missed the session. In the recent times, he has had problems with fitness in the recent times. He had missed out on a few games for his IPL franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad, in the recently concluded season of the Indian Premier League.
Back in the nets
Much to the relief of the Indian fans and the men in blue, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Yuvraj will be fit before the mega event commences. Earlier on the day, Yuvraj had participated in the practice session of the Indian team. He batted in the nets and that certainly has given a lot of hopes to the fans before India head on to the tournament proper.
The ICC posted a video on the social media with a caption ‘Look who’s back in the nets’. In the video, Ravichandran Ashwin is seen bowling to Yuvraj in the nets as the veteran southpaw defends the ball with ease.
