India’s keeper-batter Richa Ghosh has turned many heads with her recent performances in the ODI series against Australia. She made her ODI debut in the first ODI and added valuable 32 runs to the team’s account. Owing to her hard-hitting abilities, Ghosh has been roped in by the WBBL franchise Hobart Hurricanes for the upcoming edition of the Women’s Big Bash League 2021.
Ghosh blew the trumpet of her flair in the second ODI as well. She played a knock of 44 runs, which included as many as three fours and a six. Her fearless approach in batting and the ability to hold the fort of the side in the middle orders enabled her entry into the big league. She is now the fifth Indian cricketer to sign with a WBBL franchise.
Shafali Verma and Radha Yadav sign with Sydney Sixers
Earlier, Sydney Sixers had announced the signing of Verma and Yadav for the upcoming season of the WBBL, which is all set to commence in October. The explosive India opener Verma exuded her flair and hit her maiden ODI half-century in the third game against Australia to fashion the team’s victory. She opened up on the excitement and the opportunity to play in the WBBL.
“This is a very good opportunity for me and my goal is to just enjoy myself, to make some new friends, and have fun. I want to play WBBL and back myself and just believe in myself,” Verma said as reported by ESPNcrcinfo.
Radha Yadav on the other hand isn’t part of India’s Test and ODI series but is a key player when it comes to the shortest format. Sixers coach Ben Sawyer stated that having a player like her in the side is exciting and pointed that she comes in handy with her all-rounder performances.
“Radha brings a skill set that we have never had at the Sixers and that’s very exciting. I think a left-arm orthodox bowler is so important in the WBBL and having one who is world-class is such a great opportunity for this team. She has also batted in the middle of the order for India so she is handy with the bat too,” he said.
