WBBL 2021 is all set to begin mid-October and Melbourne Renegades have just come up with a star signing ahead of the tournament. Renegades ropes in young Indian sensation Jemimah Rodrigues as they are inching closer to wrap up their squad. The 21-year-old will be featuring in the league for the first time in history and her signing comes on the back of the splendid The Hundred tournament.

It has to be noted that Rodrigues was the second-highest run-getter of women’s The Hundred, only behind Dane van Niekerk. She smashed 249 runs in seven innings striking at an impressive 150.9 for her team Northern Superchargers. Currently, the Indian women’s team are on their tour to Australia where the ODI series has just completed and Rodrigues didn’t feature there.

However, it is expected that she will feature in the upcoming three-match T20I series against the Australian women’s team. Upon her new joining with Renegades, she expressed immense happiness and excitement. She added that she wishes to play some quality cricket only and is currently in a good headspace to give her best shot.

I’m very excited to be here now and to be part of the Renegades: Jemimah Rodrigues

“I’m very excited to be here now and to be part of the Renegades. I think for me, the main goal over here will be just to pull back and play cricket, play some good cricket and enjoy what I’m doing. I know when I do that and when I’m in that headspace, I’m able to give it my best,” said Jemimah Rodrigues as quoted by cricket.com.au.

Rodrigues further added that she is keen on giving her best for the Renegades and win the cup for his first WBBL team. She expressed her excitement and added alongside that it’s going to be great learning for her.

“The goal is, whatever happens, I want to give it my 100 percent each and every time I’m on the field. and hopefully (we can win) the cup for the Renegades. I’m super excited, I’m really looking forward to it and there’s so much that I’m going to learn, I’m sure about that,” she added.
