Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are more or less knocked out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) after losing to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday. It was their seventh loss of the season and even if they win the remaining four matches, CSK will need some other results to go their way to make it to the playoffs. However, the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja still believes in the team and has posted an inspirational story on his Instagram account.
CSK needed to win the game against RR to stay alive in the competition but they came up with a disappointing effort. After winning the all-important toss, their batsmen never showed any intent to post a competitive total on the board and ended up with 125 runs only. Jadeja was the top-scorer with 35 runs to his name while MS Dhoni added a run-a-ball 28.
With the ball, the attack looked toothless after picking three quick wickets in the powerplay. Jos Buttler didn’t give any chance to the opposition and smashed an unbeaten 70 to take the team home in a must-win game for Royals too.
The loss has definitely hurt CSK and the players. Ravindra Jadeja, who is having a decent tournament, seems to be one of them. He took to his official Instagram account on Tuesday and posted a story with the text, “We can win, We will win and We must win.” The left-arm spinner has been consistently scoring runs down the order for CSK this season but he has struggled a bit with the ball.
So far, Ravindra Jadeja has scored 194 runs in nine innings at an average of 48.50 and strike-rate of 164.40 which is the best among all CSK batsmen. However, he has scalped only four wickets with the ball conceding runs at an economy of 9.34. Having said that, the all-rounder seems keen on performing well in the rest of the game and make the team proud.
Here’s the story:
MS Dhoni admits thins haven’t gone their way
After a sombre performance in the game against RR, CSK skipper MS Dhoni admitted that things haven’t gone their way this season. He also cleared that they have always followed the process and will have to analyse where it went wrong for them this year.
“It’s not always supposed to go your way. That’s why what we try is going back to the process and see if the process is wrong or maybe we weren’t able to execute. Result is always a byproduct of the process. What it does is it helps you think in a positive way. We play in front of millions of people so there is nothing to hide. The fact remains that if you’re busy with the process then the undue pressure of results doesn’t get into the dressing room,” he said.
