The Chennai Super Kings have been one of the most successful franchises in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The MS Dhoni-led team has been champions three times in 2010, 2011 and 2018. They have made it into the knock out stages in all the seasons they have played in the IPL.
In 2015, the Chennai Super Kings were banned for two years from the league with their officials found involved in betting on the matches. They made a triumphant return last year, winning the tournament and have now won their first two matches in IPL 2019 as well.
The CSK team has banked on its experienced players in the two seasons so far with the majority of players being on the wrong side of thirty. And Dwayne Bravo is one such player, who has been a major cog in CSK’s victories in recent times, including the famous win over Mumbai Indians last year in the season opener, when his quickfire fifty helped Chennai win by one wicket.
Bravo spills secrets of CSK team meetings
The Bajan all-rounder has revealed that the Chennai team management, including captain MS Dhoni, doesn’t believe in team meetings. “We don’t plan. we don’t have team meetings. We don’t plan. We just turn up, go with the flow on any given day. So yeah we just watch the situation and adjust and adapt quickly. That’s where the experience comes in,” Dwayne Bravo was quoted saying by Times Now.
“We proved last season, you know, age is just a number. Whenever people talked about the CSK team, they brought in the age factor. We are not 60 years old, yeah. We are 35, 30, 32… We are still young; we look after ourselves, we look after our body, and we have a lot of experience and don’t matter what, you can’t beat experience in any sport, in any tournament. In anything you just cannot beat experience,” Bravo further added.
Bravo has been one of the best all-rounders in the league, making 1383 runs and picking 140 wickets in 124 matches in IPL thus far. He is the only bowler in IPL history to pick more than 30 wickets in a single season and has won the Purple Cap on one occasion. Chennai will play their next match against Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.
