‘Man of the Series’ Kl Rahul was seen in sublime touch as he ended up being the highest run-getter of the T20I series against New Zealand by scoring 224 runs at a staggering average of 56. In fifth T20I too, the right-hander led the foundation for India as he scored a sublime 45 of 33 balls which included 4 fours and 2 sixes.

The Karnataka batsman was also the stand-in captain for India in this match when New Zealand were chasing. He was seen captaining the side after Rohit Sharma, the stand-in captain for this match picked up a calf injury. After winning the T20I series with a historic 5-0 margin, Rahul was seen praising the opposition captain Kane Williamson after the Kiwi skipper missed out the last two matches of the series due to a shoulder injury.

Furthermore, Rahul also took a quirky jibe at  Williamson by calling him ‘a treat which he doesn’t want to watch in the upcoming ODI series’.

“It’s a treat to watch him bat. It’s a treat to watch but hopefully, in the next 3 ODIs, we don’t want to be treated to Kane’s innings. Hopefully, he can save it not even for IPL because he is against me. Any other series is fine,” said Rahul post the match.

Rahul spoke about how he spent time by taking about batting with Williamson when he was the part of Sunrisers Hyderabad during the 7th and 8th season of the Indian Premier League. He said, “I have spent a lot of time with Kane during 2014, 2015 when I was with Sunrisers and he was with Sunrisers. I spent a lot of time talking to him about batting. I thought we have similar styles of batting, I learnt a lot by watching him bat”.

Without playing the last two matches of the series too, Williamson was still the fourth highest run getter of the bilateral tournament as he smashed 160 runs with a solid average of 53.33.
