The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has held his composure in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) in UAE. Despite the fact that his team has conceded more than 195 runs thrice already, Chahal has been economical and only endured his first bad game on Monday against the Delhi Capitals (DC). Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir is impressed with the leggie and feels that his performances have sort of gone under the radar.

Yuzvendra Chahal has so far picked up eight wickets in five innings and wasn’t amongst wickets for the first time in his previous outing. He is also second in the list of top wicket-takers with Kagiso Rabada at the numero uno spot having scalped 12 wickets. Interestingly, among the top seven, Chahal is the only spinner while the rest are out and out fast bowlers.

According to Gautam Gambhir, the likes of Rabada and Bumrah are being talked of highly this season even as the Haryana leggie has done his job quietly for RCB. “Yuzvendra Chahal has been brilliant. We keep talking about Rashid Khan, Jofra Archer, Kagiso Rabada, Pat Cummins; but Chahal in IPL, especially in this season, has been right up there.

“We should be talking about Chahal much more. There is more hype around other bowlers. But he has done brilliantly for RCB,” he said while speaking to ESPNCricinfo.

RCB have won three matches so far

As far as RCB’s performance this season is taken into consideration, the team has won whenever their bowlers have done well. The game against the Mumbai Indians (MI) went into the super over after both teams scored 201 runs. Navdeep Saini saved the day for them then and on two other occasions, they have managed to restrict the opposition batsmen well.

However, another concerning issue for the team is their inability to chase big totals so far this season. Rather they haven’t gone even close losing matches by 97 runs (against KXIP) and 59 runs against (DC). This has affected their net run-rate and the Virat Kohli-led side will have to take care of it going forward.
