He was also the regular member of the team when captain cool started his journey as a skipper. Despite not being able to play for the Indian side for last few years, Uthappa still remains hopeful of his comeback in the squad. He feels his great IPL performance can form the very basis of his return.
The 34-year-old stated in a video put by RR’s official Twitter handle- “I have so many fond memories with MS Dhoni. I think the most simple ones are the most beautiful ones. The ones where we had our meals together, we had a little group within the team when we were playing together, and we would just get into one of our rooms and eat our meals together. For me, I would say that those were the simplest but the fondest memories.”
Wonderful things can happen to me even now, says Robin Uthappa
Robin Uthappa last featured for India back in 2015 against Zimbabwe. He had a great season with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014, and after plying his trade successfully there, he got a chance to represent the national side again. Thus, Uthappa is optimistic about his comeback in the Indian squad.
“I certainly believe that if we have a great season in the IPL, wonderful things could happen to me and even bring me back into the reckoning for the Indian team. I am someone who is always positive, and I look for silver linings even in negative situations. So I do hope that I will be able to represent my country again and bring laurels to it,” he concluded.
